Office Space, Feng Shui in Your Office Space |
 |
Perhaps you have your office space rented, and you are eager to open up for business. But, before you do so you have to furnish your office. You obviously want your business to be successful, so you want to make sure that your office is decorated in such a way that will be optimal for both employees and customers.
Now, it isn't a proven fact that this works, and some people scoff at the idea-but, feng shui (pronounced fung shway) does work for many people. Feng shui is the art of arranging furniture and other belongings in order to create a balance in the environment. It is an ancient Chinese practice that is being used today in both home and office spaces to help people increase their chances of success and happiness in their lives.
It may sound kind of odd, arranging belongings in order to create such things, but the Chinese believe that there are energies all around us, in everything, and our arrangements of our belongings (at home or in our office spaces or wherever) can change these energies. If you think about it, it really isn't so different from a person not wanting to live next to a dump or a nuclear waste facility because of it giving off a "bad vibe," is it?
There is an art to arranging belongings for feng shui. You can search on the internet for more detailed ideas, but here are some basic tips that you can use in your office space.
First of all, put your desk in a commanding place of power in your office space. Do not have it facing a wall and do not have your back to the door. Make sure your desk is the right size, too-if it is too small, it can make you subconsciously feel unimportant; if it is too large, you can feel unfocused.
Next, try adding some plants to your office. Keep them healthy, though-vibrant, healthy plants promote a vibrant, healthy office space.
Uplifting music can be helpful as well, as long as it is soft and in the background. Or, you can try having a small water fountain, such as one of those desktop-sized fountains. The sound of running water promotes creativity and can activate wealth.
The art and accessories you choose for your office space are important, too. Make sure that you only have pieces of art and desktop accessories that mean something to you. Meaningless art will not motivate you. Photos, paintings, and keepsakes that are connected to you will help to inspire you and keep you happy in your office space.
And, it is essential to avoid clutter. A cluttered office space brings about a cluttered mind. Piles of paper make you feel unproductive and overwhelmed. If you cannot complete everything at once, place it in labeled boxes in a closet where it cannot be seen.
Whether or not you believe in the art of feng shui, these tips are beneficial for anyone. Indeed, it won't hurt to try them-and, it could help. |
