Office Space, Organize your office space |
The office space is the one space that is constantly being cluttered with books, papers, and computer peripherals. This work area is the one place that needs to be kept clean and organized. The office space must be productive. Everything all cluttered and bunched up does not allow a productive office space.
The first thing to do when organizing the office space is to clear it all out. Once you have removed everything from the office space then you can work on putting it all back together again. The office space should only contain the things you need to accomplish your work. The other things can be put in storage, sold, or given away.
You should start by putting into the office space the most important pieces of furniture and equipment. You will want the desk and computer to go into the office space first. This way the office space is designed around your work station and not the other way around. The work station should also be checked for anything that is not absolutely necessary to do your work. If you let things go then the office space becomes a cluttered mess in no time and you will be doing this clearing out all over again. To avoid the hassle just make sure the only things in your office space are what you need.
Just because something was there before does not mean it has to go back into the office space. For instance, if there was a shelf that was only collecting excess papers or unused office supplies, there is no reason to put that shelf back into your office space. The same thing goes for the decorations. If they were distracting you before they will distract you again. Remove them and to not bring them back. The office space will be much better. Your work will not be affected by such things again.
You may be surprised as to how much junk has actually collected in your office space when you were not looking. Coffee cups and empty food wrappers always seem to end up in places they just do not belong. Soon something gets set on top of them and they are forgotten. When you clear out the clutter you can find many things. The best thing about clearing out the clutter from the office space is the extra room you find. This extra room will make working so much more enjoyable. You can relax and not be side tracked with trying to straighten up as you go.
A clear, clutter free office space will allow you to reach your full potential. You can concentrate on working. The projects can meet deadlines. You have a fresh view of the area and a fresh outlook on what you must accomplish. Organizing the office space may be a tough job but it is one that is well worth the time. It should be done on a regular basis. You will find it is so much better to work in a clean environment. |
