Office Space, Organization tips for your office space |
The busier the office space the less organized it seems to become. Files and paper work pile up. Outgoing mail gets mixed up with incoming mail. Paper clips and push pins can never be found when you want one. There are many ways to keep your office space organized with some simple techniques.
Baskets are great for keeping the office space organized. You can use one for incoming work and one for outgoing work. This is a widely used organization tip in any office space. You can use baskets for so much more. That stack of ideas that just keeps growing on a table and getting scattered all over the office space would fit great into a small wire basket.
Baskets with inserts are great for keeping small items organized in the office space too. Decorative jars sitting in a flat basket can hold the push pins, pens, and paper clips you use in the office space. You will always know where they are any time you need one.
A great way to keep your office space organized is to handle paperwork once. So many times we are smothered in so much incoming data it can seem overwhelming. Many times we stack it in some part of the office space not being used thinking we will get to it later. It sits there taking up space. In the small office this can be precious office space.
When the mail comes into the office space open it and do one of two things. File it in the trash or file it where it belongs. Do not set it aside to view later. Address the mail as it comes into the office space. This can save time because so many times we find ourselves cleaning out the desk or cabinets just to cut back on the clutter. The trash we are throwing out is usually paperwork we were going to look at later but never got around to it.
While cleaning the clutter that builds up in the office space, pack up all those unused or outdated files still taking up space. There is no need to get rid of them. Just pack them up and put them in the storage area for your office space. It is better they clutter up the storage area than your office space.
When you find a file, article, or paper that you know will be important at some future date only save the necessary paperwork. File it into a special box located in your office space. If you find that the only time you open that box is to put something in, throw away the box. It is just taking up space and wasting your time. Unless you use the items in the box you are collecting for nothing.
There are many ways to organize your office space. You can cut down on the clutter and make your office space look so much more productive. Without the clutter you may actually find that you can be more productive. |
