Office Space, Office Space in a Coffee Place |
People who own and operate small businesses do so from a variety of locations. Some work from home office spaces. Others prefer to lease a commercial office space. But some people do not use any type of office space at all-at least, not any type of formal office space.
There are quite a lot of small business owners who operate their businesses from coffee shops. Yes, these business owners consider coffee places to be their office spaces. Coffee shops such as Starbucks and Caribou Coffee-as well as many locally-owned coffee shops-- are often filled with people sitting at tables and working.
There are several reasons people use coffee shops as office space. First and foremost is the availability of a Wi-Fi connection. While some coffee shops charge a fee for usage of their Wi-Fi connection (these shops are more commonly called internet cafes), most do not. So, for any person trying to start up a small business who may not be able to get a fast internet connection at home, this is ideal.
Another reason why some people use coffee shops as office space is for a change of scenery. Some of the people working in these coffee shops do have another office, whether it is a home office or a commercial office space. But perhaps a change of scenery is desired to get motivated to complete a large project. Or maybe a person wants to come to the coffee shop just for a chance to get out of their usual office space for awhile. Maybe a person feels as if he is reaching work burnout and knows that going to the coffee shop to work will alleviate that feeling.
Some people are in businesses that require creativity. For example, clothing design, furniture design, writing, marketing, and web design all entail using imagination and artistic qualities. So, a lot of people in these types of businesses like to use coffee shops as an office space for the stimulation that they offer. At coffee shops there are always people talking and walking around, so there are a great deal of interesting subjects from which to glean some inspiration.
Aside from the Wi-Fi connection, the scenery, and the inspiration of the coffee shops, there is another factor that appeals to many people. What makes many small business owners decide to do their work in a coffee shop office space rather than any other is one thing-the coffee.
Specialty coffee drinks have become so much more popular over the last several years, and many people like to enjoy at least one or two (if not more) each and every day. Some people jokingly claim they are ’addicted’ to specialty coffee drinks. So, for these people it’s a no-brainer-making the coffee shop their office space is the ideal situation.
A coffee shop office space is not for everyone, of course. Some people may find it to be too noisy, for example. But many people love working in these office spaces and probably always will. |
