Office Space, Office Space Cubicles |
People often complain about how small and drab their office space cubicles are. No one likes to go into work and feel bored and squished for 8 hours. So what can be done to spruce up that tired office space cubicle? Well, first make sure it is okay with the boss. Then have fun with it.
Does the cubicle feel so small that it appears the walls are closing in? Try adding mirrors to the walls. Mirrors give the illusion of greater office space because the viewer now sees the same office space twice, making it appear more spacious. Etched mirrors can also give more visual focus to the cubicle so that upon entering the eye falls on the design rather then the lack of space inside the cubicle.
If looking at the surroundings in the mirror is going to be too distracting, try something else. Why not hang a painting? Landscape paintings from a distant perspective often give the illusion of added space. If a sea feels more calming, try a seascape. If the moon is more your style, maybe a moonscape. If the bright lights of the city are what make you feel at home, try a cityscape. Paintings should be personal and make it a pleasure to sit in the office space cubicle all day.
Don’t like paintings of terrain? How about a religious painting? Religion can bring peace and tranquility to those who have a strong faith. Some religious paintings are done in such a way that even the non-religious can find peace in them.
Pictures of family members can keep a person focused and remind them why they come to work to begin with. Maybe seeing the smiling faced of loved ones is enough to make the office space cubicle feel more at home.
Depending on the color of the cubicle walls, it might be the color that is making the cubicle appear small. While it is probably not possible to actually paint a cubicle wall, color can still be added to the office space. Use some brightly colored cloth and drape it around the cubicle with thumb tacks. Create a window scene using a cutout of an outdoor scene tacked to the wall with material pinned to the wall so that it looks like curtains. This can be fun to look at as well as fun to complete.
Put a vase full of flowers on the desk. If the desk houses a computer, either ensure that the computer cannot get wet, or use silk flowers. The advantage to silk flowers can be left unattended and the worst that will happen to them is that they will get dusty. If a real plant is more inviting, and there is still little space or time for caring for it, try a plant in the cacti family.
To conclude, an office space cubicle doesn’t have to be boring and dull. By adding mirrors, paintings, pictures of family members , and bright colors, the office cubicle doesn’t have to be a place of dread and boredom. |
