Office Space, Artwork in an Office Space

There is nothing that brings about such differing emotions as artwork. Better yet, the same piece of art can bring about very opposite emotions in two different people. What does that mean to an office space?

There are several things to consider when adding artwork to the office space. First, consider who will see the artwork. If it is in an area where customers are greeted, the response from the customers should be the first thing to think about before deciding on a piece of art for the office space. Landscape scenes tend to be some of the safest of artwork. Depending on the scene, a landscape can add tranquility to the office space. A painting filled with colorful flowers can brighten up the office space and bring a feeling of being outdoors for the employees. Some of the most famous landscape paintings include Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night and Claude Monet's Water Lilies. There are many different types of scape paintings, including moonscape, seascapes, and cityscapes.

Another type of artwork that can be quite safe for an office space is the abstract painting. Without definite pictures, each person has his or her own perspective. The only problem with abstract art is that it can seem quite violent to the viewer because of the way the colors seem to be just thrown on the canvas. While this is not true of all abstract art, this should be taken in consideration when choosing an abstract painting for the office space. Make sure the artwork is not distracting to the employees. The office space should be a productive place, when artwork is distracting, it doesn't help anyone.

If a landscape painting is not right for the office space, consider artwork that matches the company image. For instance, a high-tech company could try computer generated graphics for livening up the office space. If the company is a decorating firm, try a painting consisting of tools for a decorating firm. If it is a data entry office space, try a picture of a computer. There are many types of artwork, many genres of painting.

Sculptures are another type of artwork. They can be classical, modern, inanimate objects, or people. Depending on the amount of space in the office space, the sculpture can be large or small. Sculptures can bring about the same emotion in a viewer as paintings and pictures.

Some companies post pictures of their employees. For a boost in morale, employee's pictures can be hung on a wall to recognize them for a job well done. Picture's can also be hung to make the employee feel like they are really part of the company. If an office space contains photographs of the employees, it can bring about feelings of camaraderie and bonding. They are all part of the same thing.

In summarizing, artwork is not appropriate for every business, but for an office space where artwork is appropriate, there are many choices. Landscape paintings, sculptures, or employee photographs are all designed to soften the atmosphere of the office space.
