Office Space, Moving Your Successful Business to a New Office Space |
 |
Some small businesses that are just starting out will likely not be successful-that is a well-known fact. But, there are those that do very well. A combination of hard work, tenacity, toughness, and sheer luck gets some small businesses to achieve quite a lot.
If yours is one of those steadfast small businesses that has been successful, you may be at the point where you are outgrowing your office space. You may be finding that your customers are having difficulty finding parking spaces or that your waiting area is always too crowded for everyone to sit. Or perhaps you have more employees than you have desks because there simply isn't room enough for another desk in your office space. It's time to move to another office space.
There's a lot that goes into moving to another office space. You remember all of the planning and intricacies involved from the first time you hunted for an office space. Well this time you have all of that again-plus, you have to worry about your current customers.
This time around, at least you have a better idea of exactly how much office space you will need-last time you were just estimating as to the amount of space you thought you would need. And this time, you know what area you need to find an office space in. You need to remain reasonably close to the area in which you are presently located so as to be able to keep the customers you currently have. If you move too far away, your customers will not move with you.
Knowing those two items does help; however, you still have a lot of work to do in searching. And, since your business is now so successful, you probably do not have the time to do much searching. So, it is probably best to hire a real estate advisor. This person will do the searching for you and you will only need to go view the best office space options that the advisor finds.
Now you need to let your customers know about your intended move to a new office space. Don't just wait and spring it on them the week before your move. It is usually optimal to begin letting customers know as soon as you have decided that you will be moving--even if you do not have a location yet.
If a customer asks where you will be moving, you can simply reply that you are looking at options in the nearby surrounding area. Who knows-you may even get lucky and a customer may know of a choice office space that is up for lease!
Other than talking with customers about the move, you need to post signs about the move. The signs need to be posted at least a month before your move. Make the signs legible and include directions to the new office space.
Moving to a new location can be a big hassle. But, look at it like this-at least your office space is successful enough to warrant a bigger location! |
