Office Space, Brightening an Office Space |
 |
An office space is not just an office space, it is a second home. Many people spend almost as much time in their office space as they spend at home. So why not make the office space as inviting as possible. Many jobs do not allow personal items in the work place, but many do. How can an office space be more inviting?
Plants can make an office space more inviting. Colorful flowers brighten up the office and they offer a natural deodorizer for the employees. Ficus and vining plants can also add a splash of color to an office space. How much time the employees will devote to caring for the plants will decide what type of plants the office should take on. If the employees will devote little or no time to caring for the plants, cacti can be perfect. There is such a wide variety of cacti. They can be tall or short, fat or skinny, and some cacti even have flowers. Other plants may require more maintenance, but if they are preferable to cacti, the duties of caring for them can be taken on by all employees, or one who may volunteer for the extra duty.
Another way to make an office space more inviting is to add color. Some companies prefer not to paint the walls. If that is the case, paintings and artwork add a colorful alternative. They can be large or small, bright or minimal. The best thing about artwork is that they can be inexpensive and still make the office space feel more inviting. Some can be emotional pieces. Some artwork can bring a calming effect. Consider what emotion the artwork evokes when choosing artwork for the office space. Whether they are landscape paintings or well-known sculptures, employees will feel more at home in their office space.
If the company allows personal items, invite the employees to bring their own artwork and plants. Bringing a piece of home to the office space can be a stress reliever to the employee. Let the employee know what is allowed and what is not appropriate in their office space. Plants are not always allowed at offices due to the possibility of leaking water on expensive equipment. These things should be taken into consideration when deciding what personal items will be allowed in the office space.
Another thing that will brighten an office space is music. Allowing employees to bring radios or mp3 players is a great way to brighten the office. If it is a business in which employees need to answer phones make it known that business must come first. If it is preferable that employees not be wearing headphones, an office radio can be a nice addition to the office space.
To conclude, since an office space can be a second home, it should be inviting. There are many ways to make an office space more enjoyable. Plants, color and artwork and even music are just a few ways that an office space can seem more friendly and inviting. |
