Office Space, How to Select a Desk Chair For Your Office Space |
 |
When setting up an office space, there is one item of furniture that deserves more attention that most others. This item is the office desk chair. Choosing a desk chair should not be done simply by price or style; there are many specifics that need to be considered. Why is it so essential to be extra fastidious about selecting a desk chair for your office space? Well, most jobs require a great deal of sitting, and the wrong chair can cause backaches, headaches, neckaches, and fatigue. So, finding the best chair for you is quite important. Here are some tips on how to get the best chair for your office space.
First of all, you need to check the height of the chair. And, make sure that the height is adjustable. Sitting in a chair that is too short will be very uncomfortable for your legs. And, chairs that are too tall, causing your legs to swing rather than reaching the floor, are not stable enough. Neither is what you want for your office space. You need a chair that you can set up so that you can sit with your feet planted firmly on the floor.
Next, look at the width of the chair seat and the height of the backrest. These are both critical for a chair to be the right one for your office space. The chair seat needs to be wide enough for you to sit securely in the seat without being squished. The backrest should be tall enough to provide lower back support.
Now, the backrest doesn't just need to be tall enough, though-it should also be adjustable. Ideally, it should be able to tilt forward and back. This feature allows you to customize the backrest so as to try to alleviate any discomfort you might have after sitting for an extended period of time in your office space.
You also need to take a good look at the material and the way that the desk chair is shaped-in particular, the shape of the seat. You want to have a soft, breathable material that will not stick to you (no vinyl, in other words). You need the material to be durable and easy to clean. As for the shape of the chair, rounded edges are best, especially around the seat edge. Sharp edges tend to cut off a person's circulation, and you certainly do not need that when working in your office space.
The desk chair you choose for your office space does not have to have armrests, but it is a nice feature that many people enjoy. If you decide to look at chairs with armrests, make sure that the armrests are adjustable.
Whatever chair you end up selecting for your office space, it needs to be stable. Look for at least four, but preferably five base legs.
A good quality desk chair for your office space may take a little work to find, and it may not be cheap-but, it will be well-worth the effort and the extra cost. |
