Office Space, How to Exercise at Work in Your Office Space |
 |
Working long hours at the office can mean having to skip or miss out on a lot of leisure activities. One interest that is skipped quite often by many office workers is exercise. People are too exhausted after a long, hard day at work to want to head for the gym after work. And most people are simply not motivated enough to want to get up extra early in the morning so as to be able to exercise before work.
But, there is one solution to this problem-a worker can incorporate exercise right into his daily schedules, right in his office space.
Sure, it sounds odd and unusual. But really, it can easily be done by anyone-even you. There are actually several techniques. None of these will cause you any loss in your productivity at work. So, try one-or more-of these exercise techniques that you can do right in your own office space.
First of all, try replacing your traditional office space desk chair with something else-try an exercise ball. Simply sitting on an exercise ball while doing your regular work rather than sitting on a standard desk chair will help you to work your core muscles. It will also help you to improve your balance skills and muscle tone. If you have to sit down to work in your office space anyway, it is worth a shot to try this-at least for some part of the day, anyway.
Another exercise technique you can try is standing up to work. You burn more calories when you are standing than you do when you are sitting, so try standing up in your office space when you can-perhaps you can stand when you are talking on the phone or doing dictation.
You can take that technique a step further by fashioning a treadmill desk in your office space. Of course, there are specialized treadmill desks you can purchase, but you can take a regular treadmill and make it work as a desk by putting a laptop on a stand at the front of it. Now, rather than simply standing to burn more calories than sitting, you are going to walk while you work. This is a really great way to burn calories while working in your office space.
Rather than taking coffee or snack breaks, take exercise breaks. On your scheduled breaks, take a walk either outside (if weather permits) or inside your building. Or, use some resistance bands or hand weights in your office space. Of course, you can still have a snack, too, but try to fit at least some exercise in on at least one break during the day. Try scheduling to do this with a coworker to make it a little bit more fun, perhaps.
You don't have to entirely skip out on exercise, no matter how many hours you work in your office space each day. Try the tips above and you'll fit some in during the day, regardless of how busy you are. |
