When you are starting a business at a new office space-whether it is an existing business that you are simply moving to a new location or a brand new business-there are a lot of difficult decisions to make. Finding the office space was likely an arduous process; that alone is rather stressful. Then, you have to choose all of the furnishing for the office. But, before you even put a single item in your office space, there is another step to consider- your office walls.
Now, deciding on a decorating scheme for the walls of your office space does not need to be complicated-or stress-inducing. Simply follow this guideline and you will have your décor chosen in no time.
First of all, you need to think about the type of business you have. This will determine your paint and/or wallpaper options. For example, if yours is a serious office such as a stock broker group or legal office, your walls need to be more neutral. No flowery wallpapers or sponge-painted walls-these do not invoke the seriousness your office space needs. You need to choose solid colored walls, perhaps some type of beige or white. You can add a wallpaper border if you like, as long as it is not too frivolous. Or, you could paint one wall (perhaps the wall behind the receptionist) an accent color, like a dark navy or maroon-then use that color in other areas of the office.
On the other hand, if your office is not that of such a serious business-say, perhaps, yours is a website development company or a catering business-you can be a little jazzier with the walls in your office space. You can choose a wall color or wallpaper that is visually interesting-whatever you like. But, be careful not to go overboard; after all, this is not your home, this is an office space and you need to make sure that customers and clients will be comfortable. Get a few other opinions before you commit if you are thinking of choosing anything unusual.
Now, you are not finished simply because you have the walls painted and/or wallpapered in your office space. Take a look around and you will be sure to notice that the walls are looking rather empty. You need to find some wall-hangings for your office space.
Choosing items to hang on the walls in your office space works the same way, in general, as choosing the wall color or wallpaper. You must consider the type of business you have, first and foremost. But, you can get a little more creative here-and, with wall-hangings, this is where you can show your personality. Choose only photographs or paintings you actually like, because you will be looking at them every single day when you come to the office.
