Office Space, How to create the perfect home office space |
 |
The perfect home office space begins with location. Locating the office space in the children's play room is not beneficial to anyone. The location of the office space must be conducive to work. This means a place without distractions.
A spare bedroom makes the perfect home office space. However, not everyone has that luxury so other spaces need to be considered. The office space can be located in a section of the bedroom, dining room, or even the kitchen. As long as you can access the area and make it work then you can create the perfect home office space.
Lighting is important in the home office space. You must be able to see what you are doing. An overhead light may not be feasible. A quality desk lamp or table lamp can be used to create the right amount of light in your office space. You do not need to make it extremely bright. Sometimes a window with a quiet view adds ample lighting during the day.
The window should have a quiet view. Being able to see the neighbor's back yard and watching the antics will only distract you from the work you are to be doing. The home office space needs to be where you can accomplish your tasks for the day. If a window provides a distraction then cover it with a heavier curtain, window shade, or blinds.
Storage is a problem with the home office space. You can gain extra storage by adding a mobile cabinet. The kind used as a portable pantry are great. This adds shelves and storage for paper, office supplies, and other things. These storage units are strong enough to hold file crates too. The mobile cabinet can do double duty in your home office space and act like your filing cabinet as well.
Many computer stands do not come with enough space to put things. The home office space can become cluttered with software disks, printer paper, and extra cables in no time. By adding a small side table with drawers beside the computer stand, you can do away with this unsightly mess. The home office space becomes clutter free. You become more organized. Small boxes inside the drawers can organize the items so they are easier to locate.
Drawers can hide things well, but sometimes you need things out in the open in the home office space. Adding a cork board to the wall can act as a bulletin board and also keeps certain things in plain view. A coupon for discount advertising can be put up and will be used when it is in plain view. Stuck in a drawer, the coupon may get lost or forgotten. Reminders can be posted quickly and easily on the cork board. The daily "To Do" list can be posted on the cork board so you know at a glance what still needs to be done.
The perfect home office space can be created using many items you have in the home already. Just look around to see what you can use that would make your home office space more productive. Incorporate it into the furnishing as you need it. Take out what you do not use. This keeps your office space neat and tidy and ready for work. |
