Office Space, Expand your office space by going vertical |
 |
Sometimes bigger is not always better. It may not be feasible either. Yet when the office space gets crowded something has to give. Many times the office space becomes too small when a company takes off and starts growing. There are ways to expand the office space with a little know how. The first thing is to think vertical. Going up is great.
Wall space is always overlooked in place of floor space when it comes to office space. The walls can be just as useful when utilizing all the office space. The walls are usually clear of any piles of paper or other clutter so why not put them to use? You can start with a magazine rack. The wall magazine racks available hold the magazine close to the wall and are in tiers so you can see each one. This works wonders as a file storage unit. Important papers can be dropped in so they do not get lost. You can divide the rack up into deadline dates for your office projects. You can divide the racks up by clients or projects. As long as the clutter is removed from the office space and hung neatly on the wall, the magazine racks can be used for just about anything.
Another great vertical office space expansion idea is peg board. You can hang just about anything on peg boards, from hooks for scissors or ruler to small shelves. The peg board can be painted to look more attractive. The hooks can even be painted to match. Some people color co-ordinate their hooks so everyone knows where something goes when they get it down. The office space becomes less cluttered when everything has it's own place.
Simple memo racks for the office space can be created out of old picture frames. Cover the interior, where the picture would be, with a coordinating material. Stretch large rubber bands two inches apart around the cloth covered backing. Insert it back into the picture frame. Hang the picture frame memo rack on the wall. You can slide things between the rubber bands to keep them in place. This makes a quick reference board for a project or a great bulletin board for the office space.
Things like scissors, glue, and other small office supplies that may not get used that often can be hung in a shoe caddy over the back of a closet door. The office space is kept clutter free for other important things. The scissors are always where you can find them. Unused office space is put into good use. You can store extra small supplies in these shoe caddies as well.
When you look at your office space, do not forget the walls are able to be used as well. Book shelves or even just a few smaller hanging shelves can double your storage capacity in the office space. Do not just look at the floor space. The wall space is a great place to organize many things for your office space. |
