Office Space, Creating a Clutter Free Office Space |
 |
The phrase, "Back to the drawing board" has a lot of merit when it comes to office space. Many times the office space can become so cluttered that doing any type of work is impossible. There are ways to stop the clutter before it even begins. With a clutter free office space you can become more productive.
The first item necessary for a clutter free office space is a paper shredder. Any time a paper is no longer necessary or is considered junk, shred it. This saves the office space from becoming a group of piles. Paperwork can build up and become overwhelming. Get into the habit of looking at each paper as it passes through your hands and doing what must be done. This means filing it, shredding it, or passing it on. As long as the paperwork is where it should be the desk is must easier to work at.
Magazines can collect in the office space. Tear out any articles or items of interest and through the magazine away. This keeps the clutter to a minimum. Stacks of magazines, unless you are a publishing house, create a hazard. They seem to always be falling or in the way. The office space is not meant as a reading room. Get rid of them.
Books can be sorted on a book shelf. The best way to organize is either by size, subject, or author. You can instantly find what you are looking for if the books are on the shelves in a particular order. The office space looks less cluttered without a bunch of books stacked up. As you use the book, put it back on the shelf. This keeps the clutter from growing in the office space as well.
You can hide clutter with side tables and end tables which have drawers and doors. The drawers can be used for filing important paperwork. You can hide less common office items in the spaces under tables that have doors on them. If you do not want to change out the tables consider attractive storage boxes that stack. You can put these under the tables. The client thinks they are used as a decoration. You know they are used to keep your office space looking more neat.
Decorative boxes on a shelf are fine, too, in the office space. Extra office supplies can be stored in the boxes. This keeps them in close proximity for when you need them. The office space looks clean and clutter free with this storage idea as well. Baskets can also be used in this same manner in an office space.
The less clutter you surround yourself with the more productive you can become. There is less to distract you. Things in the office space can be kept in a neat and orderly fashion. The important reports and files will not be misplaced or lost. Deadlines are easier to reach when you can focus clearly upon the work at hand instead of the clutter around you. |
