Office Space, Windows in an Office Space |
An office space that is in the middle of the building wouldn’t have a need for windows, but those on the outer walls generally have windows. A building with many windows has a higher chance of being broken into, so it must be well thought out what type of window should be in the office space. Large windows allow more light to enter. When more natural lighting is available, less artificial lighting is needed and thus it saves the company money. A large window can add to the décor of the office space and color can be added in with curtains or blinds. It can be kept open to allow for a breeze and this would save on air conditioning money. Windows can help the employee keep track of the time of day. Though sometime an employee can be shocked to find the bright light that accompanied him or her into the office is slowly fading and here they are still in the office space.
Small windows allow for lighting supplement, but less distractions. They can be placed high up or lower down. Some windows are specially treated to be almost maintenance free. Some windows can be fracture proof. Some can be tinted. Some can be insulated. Some can even have the blinds built right in between two panes of glass.
A window can be very elaborate or very simple. It can be plain or have etchings. The company logo can be placed on it. It can be used for advertising daily specials, monthly specials, or discounts. Windows can also double as extra shelving. It can hold plants, a fish, books, or any number of knick knacks.
Some businesses find square or rectangular office windows dull and boring. Windows can come in many shapes and colors. The choices are endless. Windows can be frosted or opaque. They can be round, triangle, or octagonal. Stained glass windows are available to make a window not only practical, but also an artistic statement. Companies can order specialized stained glass windows as recreations of famous paintings, landscape scenes, and religious icons. A window doesn’t have to be plain and boring.
When there are so many choices in windows for an office space, an employee doesn’t have to spend 8 hours screened in between four walls with nothing to take their mind off the stress of work for even a moment. While windows can be a distraction, sometimes the risk of distraction can be worth the benefits of stress relief. Windows in office spaces of reception areas can also be a welcome addition to the customers. Windows offer so many choices in letting the company and the employees of the office space express themselves.
In conclusion, whatever window the company decides on, a window can be a bright spot in an employee’s work day, and inviting to customers. It can open up the world to the office space and let the employees have a little bit of the outdoors while he or she is still at work. |
